Safety and Preparedness

Break out your pencil and put on your thinking cap.  It's time to get WeatherREADY with some cool games and fun activities!  All of the activities below will teach you about severe weather safety and help your family plan ahead for bad weather.

Check out our awesome word search games, where you have to seek out the names of all the 2008 and 2009 hurricanes.  Is there a hurricane out there right now?  Then print out our super-cool hurricane tracking map so you can track all the movements of the storm!  Don't forget to print out your family emergency plan and fill it out with your parents.  This important plan will help prepare your family for any type of severe weather event.  Once you've completed all the tasks and activities in this section, you're officially WeatherREADY!  To reward yourself, print out your WeatherREADY Certificate of Readiness to hang up in your room or on the fridge where everyone can see.

Of course, understanding bad weather is the first step to getting WeatherREADY.  Want to learn more about different types of severe weather?  Visit our Severe Weather Guides section, where you'll find everything you want to know about tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, blizzards and more!
